国际原子能机构启动南极洲微塑料研究
南极洲是否存在微塑料污染？
研究表明，南极洲已经存在微塑料（直径小于五毫米的塑料颗粒）。
本周，原子能机构总干事拉斐尔·马里亚诺·格罗西与阿根廷总统哈维尔·米莱一起前往南极洲，启动了一个新项目，以更好地了解这一问题的范围。原子能机构摩纳哥海洋环境实验室的科学专家将继续留在南极洲，根据原子能机构的“核技术用于控制塑料污染”倡议收集样本，以便日后进行分析。
“核技术用于控制塑料污染”倡议以原子能机构的塑料污染治理工作为基础，采取的方法是利用辐射技术进行再循环，以及利用同位素示踪技术进行海洋监测。
