Recent progress in nuclear electronics and nuclear instrumentation creates the opportunity to develop optimum instruments in terms of cost and performance, and to apply them to environmental monitoring; particularly in-situ measurements and characterization of industrial materials. This CRP will address the potential options of new technologies, in particular low cost detector materials and multi-element detector systems. This CRP will be targeted at complementing the activities of the Working Group on In-situ Techniques for Radiological Characterization within ENVIRONET.
