New Appointments at the IAEA

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Dr. Hans Blix, has announced the following appointments:

Mr. Steffen Groth, from Denmark, as Director of the Division of Human Health, Department of Research and Isotopes.

Mr. Groth studied medicine at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, where he obtained his Masters and Doctors Degree of Medical Sciences. In addition he graduated from the Copenhagen Business School as Master of Business Administration. After work as a medical practitioner at various hospitals in Denmark he became in 1979 a specialist in clinical physiology and nuclear medicine at the University of Copenhagen. From 1993 to the present he was Director of the Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine of the University of Umea hospital, Sweden, and Professor for Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine of that university.

Ms. Denise Loehner, from France, as Director of the Division of Scientific and Technical Information, Department of Nuclear Energy.

Ms. Loehner graduated in nuclear physics, applied mathematics and theoretical physics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Paris and the Institut H. Poincaré Paris, France. From 1967 to 1990 she held various positions at the National Centre of Scientific Research (C.N.R.S.) in Paris and Nancy. From 1990 to 1995 she was Head of Service of the Specialized Data Bases of the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in Paris. From 1995 to the present she worked as Deputy Director at the Direction of Scientific and Technical Information of the CEA in Paris.
