Multiphase flow systems are widely used in vast industrial and environmental processes. The fluid-dynamic properties of such systems are not yet well understood and hence, it is essential to properly and accurately measure these properties. Since these multiphase flow systems are opaque, radiometric techniques offer the best means of performing such measurements. Accordingly, this proposal focuses on establishing CRP to develop and validate integrated nuclear methods for investigation of multiphase flows and extend to real systems for on-line evaluation and efficient management of industrial processes such as waste water treatment plants, food, petrol, gas and chemical industries . It includes development of nuclear techniques for measurement of spatial and temporal distribution of each phase in industrial multiphase systems, development of integrated methodology for measurement of phase flow rates in industrial multiphase flow systems. Guidelines for integration of gamma CT, densitometry and radiotracer techniques for multiphase flow measurements will be established. These will be achieved through international interactive research activities. The CRP will contribute to larger utilization of the nuclear techniques and their integrated use and transfer the technology and know-how to the developing countries through such interactive research efforts.

The CRP developed and validated integrated nuclear methods for investigation of multiphase flows for on-line evaluation and efficient management of industrial processes such as waste water treatment plants, food, petrol, gas and chemical industries . It includes development of nuclear techniques for measurement of spatial and temporal distribution of each phase in industrial multiphase systems, and integrated methodology for measurement of phase flow rates in industrial multiphase flow systems. Guidelines for integration of gamma CT, densitometry and radiotracer techniques for multiphase flow measurements have been established. The CRP has contributed to larger utilization of integrated nuclear techniques and transfer of technology and know-how to the developing countries.
The relevance of the CRP relates to the gains made by industry as they employed the techniques developed in this CRP. Once industrial processes are improved and made more efficient, environmental pollution is also reduced affirming the fact that nuclear techniques are helpful in building greener and sustainable communities
